Family, friends and fellow Lyme disease patients were among those who gathered at St Canice’s Neighbourhood Hall as local woman Ann Maher launched her book.

Deputy John McGuinness did the honours marking the start of Lyme Disease Awareness Month in the process.
Lyme and Co. Me and Us is Ann's personal account of her own 28 year struggle with the debilitating disease which she contracted after being bitten by a tick while visiting the US for a family wedding.

In her candid story Ann recalls the series of life altering health issues she has encountered since and the battle she had to get a proper diagnosis.

Deputy John McGuinness said he was honoured to be asked to launch the book encouraging those who had gathered to read her story and paid tribute to Ann for her tireless advocacy work on behalf of other patients across the country

“She has been a great campaigner for the recognition of Lyme disease and she has taken that campaign to, I'd say, every level of the political life in this country”.

In her poignant memoir, LYME AND CO., the author courageously unveils her harrowing journey battling Lyme Disease and its devastating co-infections since 1995.

Lyme and Co. Me and Us is available now on Amazon.
