Appeal challenges rejection of 30m telecom tower at Kilkenny GAA club

An appeal has been lodged against the refusal of a planning application for a 30m telecommunications structure at a Kilkenny GAA club

Cignal Infrastructure Ltd has submitted an appeal to An Bord Pleanála following Kilkenny County Council's refusal of retention permission for a 24m telecommunications support structure (previously granted permission under An Bord Pleanála) and 6m extension (granted permission under Kilkenny CoCo) at Dicksboro GAA, Kilcreen.

If granted, the structure would have been constructed to give an overall height of 30m together with antennae, dishes, equipment cabinets, fencing and all associated site works.

The council made their decision on June 28, with an appeal lodged with An Bord Pleanála almost four weeks later on July 25.

A decision on the appeal is expected by the end of November.
