Five sports clubs across Kilkenny are set to receive a funding boost following a successful appeal under the Community Sport Facilities Fund, a Fine Gael General Election candidate has said.
Councillor Michael Doyle said: “I was delighted to hear that five sports clubs in Kilkenny were successful in their appeals.
“These sports clubs will now be in a position to develop the likes of pitches, dugouts, changing rooms, gym equipment, and various other crucial infrastructure.
“Our local sports clubs are in at the heart of our communities in Kilkenny.
“The volunteers involved with these clubs give so much of their valuable time to ensure the smooth running of their clubs and I am delighted to see this funding come in recognition of this commitment.
“Investment in sport is crucial for our clubs and organisations given the significant positive impact they have on the overall health and wellbeing of our population.
“Having access to sports clubs will encourage more participation in sport and support positive mental and physical health.
“I have worked closely with and advocated for our sports clubs across Kilkenny and will continue to do so to support their continued positive contribution to their respective communities.
“This is another example of Fine Gael’s commitment to supporting Kilkenny communities, with the funding going a long way in assisting sports club across the county and country.
“I look forward to continuing this working relationship and seeing the improvements made to Kilkenny clubs with this funding,” Councillor Michael Doyle concluded.
