A long-awaited community health centre for the Graignamanagh area has finally taken a step closer.

First reported in the Kilkenny People and here on Kilkenny Live in April 2024, the building project is being undertaken by Westcourt Healthcare Ltd. for the HSE, at a site on the Graignamanagh bypass.

The development will be a two-story primary healthcare building alongside a single story service building which will include an ESB sub-station. There will be a gas fuel storage compound.

Included in the main building is proposed facilities for health and social care services, dental and GP practices. There will also be meeting rooms, administration offices and staff accommodation.

Entrance to the development is proposed to be off the R705 Graignamanagh bypass (relief road) and will include the extension of the access road as well as provision of footpaths.

Plans include car and bicycle parking, a set down area, paths and public lighting, drainage and water works, signage and landscaping.

The planning application has been submitted to Kilkenny County Council by Gittens Murray Architects.

The land in question, just over two acres, is located close to the Graignamanagh Fire Station, and was disposed of to Westcourt Healthcare Limited by Kilkenny County Council in March 2024.
