Fundraising Horse Race Night-The fundraising race night, in aid of Dicksboro`s U14`s upcoming campaign in the National Football Féile, was a huge success with over 450 horses sold by all members of the panel & mentors. A nice crowd gathered in Palmerstown last Friday night to roar their charges to victory & boy did they roar. Tote betting, refreshments & lively auction races provided a great nights entertainment to those in attendance while making a significant contribution to Féile preparation costs- well done to all in such a short space of time. Féile Peil na nÓg kicks off on Friday 22nd June with Dicksboro being hosted by Moate All Whites GAA club with the first match on Friday 22nd at 3pm with matches on Saturday in Cloughan v. St. Rynaghs & Lancashire & hopefully more....

Aylward Cup-Heavy rain meant that the venue for our second game in the Aylward Cup against St. Patricks, Ballyragget had to be moved from Palmerstown to St. James Pk. Losing by 1-5 to 0-4 at halftime, a lacklustre performance in the second half sealed our faith as we went down heavily on a final score of St. Patricks 3-13 to Dicksboro 0-9. O` Neill Centre Hurling Blitz - The well known Dicksboro Annual U8 Hurling Blitz in aid of the O`Neill Centre (Enable Ireland), Kilkenny goes ahead this Saturday (16th June) with sixteen teams entered. All the action kicks off at 2pm in Palmerstown under the GO GAMES spirit & all in aid of a local worthy charity - ALL WELCOME to this festival of juvenile hurling.

Lotto Results- Dicksboro Lotto draw held on Thursday 7th June 2012 was not won. The numbers drawn were 7, 15, 16 and 17. Prizes drawn were €100 to Kathleen Phelan c/o Tom Knox, €50 to Jimmy Lennon c/o Paddy Maher, €40 to Billy Loughman c/o Paddy Maher, €25 to Anne O’Neill c/o Gerry O’Neill, €25 to Sophie Maher c/o Paddy Maher, €25 to Michael Gaule c/o Michael Gaule, €25 to Breda Tyrrell c/o Paddy Maher. Promoters prize of €30 to Simon Walton and €20 to Tom Gaffney. The next draw will be for a jackpot of €5,150.

Farewell- The Park View and Park View Drive Residents Association hosted a well attended farewell party for Kilkenny Presbyterian Minister and Park View Drive resident, David Moore and family on Tuesday of last week in the Kilkenny House Hotel, Freshford Road. David, his wife Elaine and children Joshua, Hannah and Samuel are re-locating to Belfast later this month. Michael Casey, Chairman, made a presentation to the Moore family on behalf of the Residents Association and wished the family well in the future. In response David Moore thanked all for making their stay in Kilkenny very enjoyable over the last nine years and said that they will leave Kilkenny with many happy memories of their time living in Park View Drive.

Sympathies-Dicksboro Camogie Club would like to offer it’s sympathies Catherine Nolan (Registrar) on the passing of her father, Billy Ryan, last weekend.

Corpus Christi Procession- The Diocesan Corpus Christi Procession will take place on Sunday, 24th June 2012. The Procession will begin at St. John’s Church, Dublin Road, Kilkenny, at 2.30 p.m. and will proceed through the City to St. Mary’s Cathedral, to arrive approximately one hour later. People are asked to gather at St. John’s at 2.15 p.m. on the day.

Congress week in the Parishes- Eucharistic Congress is for everyone, and while thousands can and will make the journey to the RDS and to Croke Park in Dublin, many of us for a whole variety of reasons will not be able. So to facilitate our participation in the spirit of the theme of the Congress a series of prayer services have been prepared to be used in group, parish or personal prayer moments. Each brings together the theme of the day at the Congress and the Gospel for Mass that day. To be able to participate you will need a copy of the Magnificat Booklet specially produced for the Congress, it has the readings and prayers for the day in it, (some copies available at back of Church). Invitation to the general public to participate in the Eucharistic Procession on Wednesday 13th June at 18.30p.m. at the main Arena of the RDS. All are invited.

Thornback Cemetery- Annual clean-up has commenced. Volunteers greatly appreciated to prepare for the Cemetery Mass on the 6th July, at 8.00p.m.

Kilkenny Active Retirement Assoc- Monthly meeting will be held in the Club House Hotel on Monday 11th June at 2.30p.m. New Members welcome.

Sycamores/Aylesbury Residents Association-The Sycamores/Aylesbury Resident’s Association continues its work this summer. At their recent committee meeting it was decided to hold the Annual Barbeque on Sunday, June 24th, weather permitting. It will take place on The Green with food provided by Cullen Catering. Tickets will be available from association representatives. Details will be circulated to all households in advance of the event. All are welcome.

Congratulations- to Evelyn and Gus Hennessy, New Park who are celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary last weekend.

Baptisms- Baptisms take place on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month at 5.00pm in St. Canice’s. Newly Baptised are invited to attend 11.30am Mass on the last Sunday of the month.
