Freshford is amongst the local areas included
Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary has announced an expansion of the CLÁR programme in parts of North Kilkenny as well as other parts of the country.
In total, 110 additional areas were added across 20 counties, with over one million people now eligible for support scheme.
Ballyragget, Castlecomer, Freshford, Goresbridge, Johnstown and Urlingford are amongst the local are amongst the areas included.
The government initiative provides targeted investment for small-scale infrastructural projects in rural areas experiencing significant population decline.

Local councillor Pat Fitzpatrick welcomed the announcement, commenting: "After long campaigning, this milestone will deliver vital funding for rural development and new opportunities.
"The importance of CLÁR funding for projects in these areas cannot be overstated, as it provides the essential boost to infrastructure, services, and growth in their communities.
Councillor Fitzpatrick also expressed concern that other areas in North Kilkenny, which are equally deserving, were not included in this round. He will continue to fight to have these areas included in future expansions," he added.
