GAA-The Harps juvenile club have been running a hurling nursery programme for junior and senior infants boys for the last six weeks. To conclude this programme the harps boys are playing their first match against James Stephen’s, Kilkenny on this Saturday July 21 at 12 o clock in Durrow. A great morning of fun and entertainment is assured. Please come out and support our new team.
Golf-The harps juvenile club are holding a Golf Classic in Abbeyleix Golf Club on Bank Holiday Monday August 6. teams of four 100 euro. Anyone wishing to play or to sponsor a hole please contact Barry Murphy at 086-1656040 or any member of the juvenile club.
Blood-There were 124 donors attended the recent visit of the Blood Transfusion Service to Durrow . there were three new donors and twelve lapsed donors. Silver award were presented to Anne O’Shea, Ballyragget, Brendan Cahill, Abbeyleix, Denise Quigley, Ballacolla and Olive Higgins, Rathdowney.Gold awards were presented to Breda Phelan, Durrow, Michael O’Dea, Durrow and Anthony Tynan, Abbeyleix. Thank you to everyone who supported this clinic.
Lotto-The parish lotto with a jackpot of 1,300 euro was not won, small winners were 30 euro Mary O’ Leary, 25 euro Joan Dollard and 20 euro Mary Geoghegan. The lotto of July 23 will be held in O’Connell’s Cullohill with a possible jackpot of 1,600 euro . All tickets must be handed in before 9.30 pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot.
Fishing-Durrow/Cullohill parish anglers held a trout fishing competition on Friday night for the Super Value Cup. Winner was Brendan Sheppard, 2nd Tommy Gilligan. On Sunday next July 22 the club will hold another competition and depending on the dept of water in the river the committee will decide if it is a trout or pike fishing competition. All members will receive a “Text” stating the competition and the venue or you can contact any committee member or Oliver Lawlor at 0857348425.
