It has been a tough week for the school community in St Kieran's College who have released a heartfelt statement following the recent passing of 'colleague and friend' Mr Tom Looby.
Tom was a teacher in the school for many years and oversaw the growth and success of many pupils before taking early retirement.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the school said: "Today is a sad day for our school community as we remember the life of our colleague and friend - Mr Tom Looby.
"We remember Tom with great fondness and keep Eileen and family in our prayers. May he rest in peace."
Originally from Listowel in County Kerry, Mr Looby gave his all to Kilkenny after arriving here.
He passed away over the weekend in the loving care of his family, predeceased by his parents John and Catherine and brother John, beloved husband of Eileen and much loved father of Mafra and Noreen.
Tom will be sadly missed by his wife and daughters, brothers Albert and Michael, sister Noreen, sons-in-law Pat and James, grandchildren Louis, Seth, Maia, Paddy, Joe and Robyn, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.
He was laid to rest on Tuesday after Funeral Mass at the Church of the Holy Cross, Cuffesgrange.
