Spanish couple give up life in sunny Spain to open a new gym in Kilkenny

Living in Madrid in the middle of Covid lockdowns, Marta Jimenez and Alejandro Roma dreamed of a life in Ireland and in September 2020 they upped sticks, took the ferry to Rosslare and have never looked back.

Marta first spent some time living in Ireland for six months in 2018 and fell in love with the idea of living here with her partner Alejandro on a full-time basis.

Alejandro had only ever been on holiday in Ireland but he was onboard, so the two made the dream a reality short while later and today they officially open their brand new gym ‘Majicafit’ in Ferrybank, County Kilkenny.

Marta has been in the fitness industry for more than a decade now working with people of all athletic backgrounds from elite-level athletes to complete beginners.

She has played sports all his life including football, swimming and CrossFit.

Holding a Bachelors of Science (BSC) degree in Physical Education along with CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting among other qualifications she has a depth of knowledge at her disposal to help any level athlete achieve their fitness and health goals.

Marta says, “I am delighted to make my dream come true in Ireland and open my own gym, I feel very blessed with all my clients who trust in me every day to help them achieve their health and fitness goals.”

Majicafit is not an ordinary gym, the ethos is a community-oriented one that specialises in training adults in a small group setting.

It offers HIIT classes in the morning and evening from Monday to Friday and Saturday morning with a full body-functional training focus.
