Kilkenny camogie’s biggest day in the domestic calendar was played out at UPMC Nowlan Park on Saturday afternoon.
The senior decider saw Dicksboro and Piltown renew their rivalry. The city side took the spoils on a 1-12 to 0-10 scoreline to record their fifth-ever top-grade championship title and retain their crown in the process.
After being level on four separate occasions in the opening half, the decisive moment came on the brink of half-time as Amy Clifford goaled. An under-hit 45 from Aoife Prendergast dropped into the square, with the corner-forward getting the all-important touch.
Piltown never gave up the ghost but failed to reel in the winners in the second half as they lost their second final in succession.
Meanwhile, in the intermediate final, there was yet more heartbreak for Mooncoin, who lost their fourth final in a row, falling to a 3-11 to 0-11 defeat at the hands of the Emeralds. - MORE DETAILS TO FOLLOW
