Pride as Kilkenny athlete wins two gold medals at Special Olympics

Local athlete, Rachel Roche, Tullamaine, Callan, who won two gold medals in the javelin and shot put while representing Leinster at the Special Olympics Ireland Summer Games 2026 recently which were held in Dublin in June.
Rachel’s outstanding achievement is a source of great pride to her family, friends and the wider Callan community. Many in Callan still have fond memories of the World Olympics in 2003 when the town of Callan was host town to the Olympic team from the Ivory Coast.
For Rachel perhaps the World games in Chile in October 2027. Wouldn’t that be wonderful adventure for her.
