Hundreds of children from Kilkenny primary schools were welcomed to the grounds of the Heritage Council for a feast of archaeology, exploration and discovery.
It marks the opening of the 14th European Archaeology Days, an annual pan-European celebration of the discipline of archaeology, and is Ireland's first time to participate in the programme.
Laoise Moore, from Clara National school, was one of those to don full medieval armour as the Heritage Council celebrated European Archaeology Days with tales of weapons, war and warriors.
