The weather gods were smiling on Mount Carmel in Callan on Saturday as the rain showers stopped just before the annual family fun day began.
It’s the second year that the event has taken place since the ending of Covid restrictions, and with financial support from Kilkenny County Council and Kilkenny Lions Club, a fantastic day was had by all who attended.
Food was provided by Michael Power, while Agriaware provided a petting farm with goats, pigs, sheep and a selection of other farm animals.
The Cycle Without Age (CWA) trishaw was also much in demand from the children and adults who attended, and Kayleigh did great work in providing cycling trips around Mount Carmel’s grounds for all who queued up. The trishaw was supplied by Kilkenny Sports and Recreational Partnership.
Music was provided by Bernie, Mick and Ollie, and one wag in the crowd commented that it was like a religious event with people discarding their walking aids to get up and dance… Needless to say, songs were sung!
The food was served up by Board members and the general feedback was that the food was fabulous, as was the service.
THANK YOU
Management at Mount Carmel have said a big ‘thank you’ to all who attended and supported the day. Roll on next year.
It was also an opportunity to remind all who play golf that the annual Mount Carmel Golf Classic is taking place on Friday and Saturday, August 25 and 26 in Callan Golf Club. The fee is €100 per team of four. Please contact John Healy on 086-1664256 or Margaret Maher on 087-9606440 for tee times.
