Hazel Maher, Danica Tervit Kruger and Niamh Brett get a visit from gardaí and special dog Britney

Three Presentation Kilkenny students have launched a new collection of books now on sale in local bookstores.

The Little Lost Collection is a series of books which aim to educate children about animal welfare and the importance of the ‘Adopt, Don’t Shop’ campaign in partnership with My Lovely Horse Rescue.

The first book in the series is inspired by Britney one of the longest residents at My Lovely Horse Rescue at the time. The book, titled The Little Lost Puppy, details the story of a dog who is used for breeding but finds her happy ending.

Hazel Maher, Danica Tervit Kruger and Niamh Brett are the founders of the Little Lost Collection and are now published authors with their books being sold at both Khan's Bookshop and The Book Centre Kilkenny.

The students held a very successful book launch on Saturday at Khan’s bookshop where they had some special guests, including members of an Garda Siochana and the KSPCA whom all play a vital role in animal welfare in Kilkenny.

The star of the show was of course the real Britney who has finally found her forever home.

The girls have also begun a primary school initiative by visiting local primary schools to do a reading of their book followed by a Q and A session.
