There were miles of smiles as people from all over Kilkenny dressed up in their festive best to take part in this year’s Santa
Run.
The event, which is part of the Yulefest series, returned to the city on Sunday morning. Despite the chill there was a great turnout at Kilkenny Castle for the family fun run, which sees everyone dig out their best Santa suit and run or walk around the grounds of the Kilkenny Castle. A vital fundraiser for good causes - to date the Run has raised over €30,000 for local charities - all proceeds from this year’s event went to St Vincent de Paul.
As the crowd assembled in the Castle Park they were entertained by the Samba Katz drumming group before being led in a warm-up by Donna Dunne. After that it was off on the buggy and dog friendly 5km and 2km runs, which had prizes for the best dressed-family, person and dog. A great time was had by all.
