AXA recognises Kilkenny local community projects

A host of local community-based projects, including those from Kilkenny, gathered recently to celebrate the success of local projects in AXA’s green space national initiative AXA Parks. 

AXA Parks is a €1 million nationwide initiative that seeks to support local community-based projects develop and enhance ‘green spaces’ in their local community. READ MORE BELOW

Over 240 projects from both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland applied last May for AXA Parks, which saw the programme over subscribed by over 350%.

In total 85 projects were selected spanning all 32 counties. The Kilkenny, Carlow, Waterford and Offaly area had great success with six projects being chosen. The projects included:

Mill Family Resource Centre in Urlingford, for enhancing the local community garden and allotments area, and Upper Paddock Biodiversity Garden in Thomastown for developing a Community Biodiversity Garden to support community engagement skills and educational opportunities for the people of Thomastown and the wider community.
