Pictures: Magnificent Kilkenny residence Bonnettstown Hall is focal point of Sheppard's sale

Bonnettstown Hall, a Period residence two miles from Kilkenny City, forms the focal point of Sheppard's of Durrow sale on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, December 6, 7 and 8.

The stunning country house erected by Samuel Mathews Esq in 1737 represents an important component of the domestic built heritage of County Kilkenny with the architectural value of the composition, 'one of the most perfect medium-sized early eighteenth-century houses in Ireland' (Bence-Jones 1978, 45).

The Bonnettstown Hall and other important clients sale in Sheppard's of Durrow includes ruby and diamond rings, stunning furniture, delicious objects d'art, brassware, Chinese and Japanese pieces, paintings, designer handbags and fashion as well as a fine collection of wines and spirits.

Side table
One really interesting piece is The Bonnettstown Hall Side Table, a unique Irish-made, 18th century mahogany side table, with rectangular moulded edged top, above a conforming frieze and over a mask centred apron. It has an estimate of €8,000 - €12,000. 

Clair de Lune
An impeccably crafted lavender-blue Chinese Clair de Lune brush washer comes from a private Dutch collector and will be sold on Wednesday, December 7. It is marked from the period of Kangxi (1622-1722). Estimate: €3,000 - €5,000.

Diamond ring
A round-cut diamond ring on 14ct white gold, mounted by 20 round cut diamonds goes under the gavel on Thursday. It has an estimate of   €6,000 - €7,000.

Club chair
A classic, leather designer club chair will be sold on Tuesday guide of between €1,500 to €2,500.

Bunsedan
A Japanese lacquered Bunsedan from 1910 will also be sold on Tuesday. The rectangular stepped top above two folding doors, opens to a carved gilded interior, over two sliding panelled doors, supported on a square base with fitted drawer. Estimate: €1,500 - €2,500.

Killarney table
An intricately inlaid arbutus and yew, 19th Century Killarney marquetry table with serpentine shaped top has an estimate of €8,000 - €12,000 on Wednesday.
