“Forgotten Memories”

Well done to Ava, Ella & Tallia. Inspired by the iconic Disney character Maleficent, this avant-garde masterpiece fuses gothic allure with the forgotten treasures of the film industry.

With their design they wanted to bring an awareness of the colossal waste the film industry produces annually. On average, a film set produces around 350 tonnes of waste for each film.

Their outfit is crafted from discarded film tapes, projector slides, and intricately woven blinds.

They repurposed projector slide frames to create paneling and plastic blinds were used to create a bustle to add shape to the dress.

The design not only embodies the mystique of Maleficent but also carries a powerful message about repurposing cinematic waste into a tapestry of dark beauty.
