Pictures: Marvellous night at Kilkenny's Medieval Mile

The Christmas season got off to a fast start in Kilkenny as the Medieval Mile took over the city earlier this month.

The event, part of the Yulefest Kilkenny celebrations, was a huge success as hundreds of people turned out to run, jog and walk their way through the city streets. READ MORE BELOW

Organised by local athletics club the Kilkenny City Harriers. more than 300 people registered for the timed event and wore their stylish long-sleeved shirts with pride, while others came along for the free walk.

Both categories attracted people of all ages, with many putting in some impressive times. The field dashed from the Army Barracks across Francis Bridge and up Irishtown towards High Street, before finishing on the Parade.

The route was full of supporters, who roared the runners towards the finish line near Kilkenny Castle, where they toasted their achievements with refreshments.
