WATCH: Fianna Fail's Joe Malone elected in Kilkenny City LEA on Count 12

He's taken the fourth seat and is over the moon

Councillor Joe Malone has been elected to the fourth seat on Kilkenny LEA on Count 12.

Picking up transfers on each count since his first preference vote of 1,041, he needed just 18 transfers after Count 11 - distribution of eliminated candidate Luke O'Connor's surplus. He got that and more, and is now elected.

Cllr Malone is celebrating at the Lyrath count centre tonight with wife Josephine and son Jamie.

Cllr Malone now joins party colleague Andrew McGuinness, Fine Gael's David Fitzgerald, and Independent Eugene McGuinness on the next city municipal district.
