A video circulating on social media has revealed the impact that a freak flash flood had on businesses in Kilkenny City yesterday as they battled to try keep the rampaging currents out.
Pictures of flooding impacting roads and residential areas in the city yesterday have also been circulating.
During yesterday's torrential downpour, Kilkenny was under a status yellow thunderstorm warning from Met Éireann, who had warned of the possibility of localised flooding.
Kilkenny remains under a status yellow warning today (Sunday), until 10pm, and the possibility of further torrential downpours such as what occurred yesterday cannot be ruled out.
The full extent of the damage caused by yesterday's flooding in Kilkenny has yet to be calculated.
