VIDEO: Can you help identify these aquatic mammals spotted in Kilkenny?

Some incredible video footage was recorded recently by local councillor Pat Dunphy, appearing to show two aquatic mammals swimming in the River Suir, close to Grannagh Castle, in South Kilkenny.

"It was a spectacular sight to behold," he told the Kilkenny People.

"There were two of them gliding side-by-side, dipping in and out of the water. I've never seen them travel this far up the Suir in all my years of living around here."

Pat said that a lot of local people have stopped by hoping to get a sight of the creatures and although a local fisherman has stated that they are dolphins, many are also speculating that they are porpoises.

"The water in the area is very deep but the feeding must also be very good around here to have them traveling up so far," said Pat.
