BREAKING: Plans for new fast food restaurant and 'drive thru' in Kilkenny

City Cinemas Limited have lodged plans for development at the existing IMC Cinema complex at Old Mart Street and Castlecomer Road, Kilkenny.

The proposed development will consist of the "construction and provision of a part two-storey and part single-storey fast food restaurant with ‘drive thru’ facility."

Also sought is illuminated external restaurant signage, the erection of an entrance height restrictor with signage, an illuminated free standing menu display sign and two ordering kiosks.

The applicant is also seeking permission for a driveway with an access point off the existing private car park, two parking bays, an outdoor seating area and the construction and provision a single storey retail unit.

In addition to the above, permission is being requested for an illuminated external retail unit signage, alterations to the existing carpark layout and all associated site works.

The plans are currently awaiting validation from Kilkenny County Council.

Subject to validation, a decision will be expected by October 3, 2025.

The decision timeline may be extended if the planning authority requires further information from the applicant.
