Planning application relates to development site at Frairy Walk, Clashacollare, Callan, County Kilkenny

Andrew Glennon had lodged plans with Kilkenny County Council for the development of a 66-unit residential estate in Callan, County Kilkenny.

The proposed development is to include 36 semi-detached four-bedroom two-storey houses; 14 semi-detached three-bedroom two-storey houses; two detached three-bedroom two-storey houses; two two-storey terraced blocks, each containing one three-bedroom mid-terrace townhouse and two end-of-terrace three-bedroom townhouses; and two two-storey maisonette apartment blocks, each containing four two-bedroom apartments.

Other works as part of the development will include connection to infrastructure, adjoining foul sewers, water mains and all utilities ‘permitted under planning references 99/1809, 10/458, 16/186, 20/189, and 25/60269’ and site boundary treatments, open spaces, landscaping and all associated site development works.

The site is accessed via the existing residential development known as ‘Friary Walk’.

The cover letter submitted with the planning application also confirmed that a separate planning application will be made for a crèche to serve the proposed development and the wider Friary Walk residential development.

“The proposed development has been designed having regard to the policies and objectives of the Kilkenny County Development Plan and relevant national guidance on residential development,” the cover letter further asserted.

“The aim is to continue the established character of Friary Walk while providing a good mix of houses and apartments, attractive streets and open spaces, and safe pedestrian and vehicular connections.”

The planning application was received on August 26 and is still awaiting validation from the planning authority.

Subject to validation, a decision on the planning application is expected by October 20, 2026.

This decision timeframe may be extended if the planning authority requests further information from the applicant.
