Gardaí in Kilkenny have issued a warning about a 'colourful' email scam currently doing the rounds that attempts to extort vulnerable individuals through deception.
As part of the scam, individuals are sent an email claiming to be sent from the Garda Commissioner stating that they are 'the subject of an ongoing judicial procedure'.

A garda spokesperson commented that 'there are lots of issues with this email that flag it as bogus but it can still catch people out if you read it without scrutinising it carefully'.
"The language is vague and designed to make you contact the emailer," the spokesperson added.
"Check on those who might be vulnerable to this type of approach. The objective is always to obtain payment through deception."
