Kilkenny gardaí have seized an illegal e-scooter after intercepting a student riding the vehicle on a footpath during a school safety patrol.
Members of the An Garda Síochána Kilkenny Community Policing Unit were carrying out school safety patrols on Ballybought Street in Kilkenny when they stopped the e-scooter.
According to gardaí, the e-scooter was “overpowered and dangerous” and was being ridden on the footpath by a person on their way to school.
Gardaí said the rider was also found to have no insurance, no helmet and no high-visibility jacket.
The e-scooter was subsequently seized, while Fixed Charge Penalty Notices (FCPNs) were also issued.
