Man injured in face in attack in Kilkenny

A man who was assaulted in Kilkenny City Centre in the early hours of Sunday morning was treated at St Luke’s Hospital for ‘ significant' injuries.

The man, in his forties was attacked between 11pm and 4am and was taken by ambulance to St Luke’s Hospital after sustaining ‘significant facial injuries’ in the assault. Gardaí are investigating the incident after the man was found unconscious and covered in blood.

The injuries while serious are understood not to be life-threatening.

The assault took place in Kilkenny city centre and anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area or who has dashcam or has doorbell footage is asked to contact Kilkenny Gardaí on (056) 7775000 or The Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 11.
