Kilkenny woman Catriona Carey has appeared before a Dublin court charged with money laundering over a three year period.
Catriona Carey, 3 Rochford Manor, Graiguecullen, Co Carlow is charged with three counts of money laundering on dates between 2019 and 2021.
The offences took place on dates between January 1, 2021 and December 12, 2021, on dates between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019 and on dates between January 1, 2020 and December31, 2020. All the offences are alleged to be contrary to contrary to Section 7 of the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing) Act 2010.
Ms Carey is accused of converting, transferring, handling, acquiring, possessing or using credit balances on a Wise Europe bank account in the name of Careysfort Assets Estates Limited, while knowing, believing, or being reckless as to whether the proceeds was the proceeds of crime.
John Steadman, Rossminogue, Craanford, Gorey is accused of 18 offences including unlawfully acting as a solicitor, deception and fraud.
He is alleged to have dishonestly induced by deception 20 people to pay a deposit having falsely represented that Careysfort Asset Estates was in a position to secure finance for distressed mortgage holders and that the deposit was refundable.
The alleged offences took place between July 11, 2019 and February 8, 2022, with the intention of making a gain for himself or for others.
He is also alleged to have acted as a solicitor while not being a qualified solicitor while not being a qualified solicitor between August 20, 2020 and February 8, 2022.
Paddy Maher, Glenmalure Gun Club, Glenmallure, Co Wicklow is charged with 24 similar offences including unlawfully acting as a solicitor while not being a qualified solicitor.
He is also alleged to have dishonestly induced by deception a number of people to pay a deposit having falsely represented that Carysfort Asset Estates was in a position to secure finance and that the deposit was refundable. The alleged offences took place on dates between July 2019 and August 2022.
All three were remanded on bail to appear before Dublin District Court on January 31, 2025.
