Gillian Butler (née Becher)

The death has occurred of Gillian Butler (née Becher), Cooltrand, Bennettsbridge, Co. Kilkenny. Peacefully, in the wonderful care of staff at Castlecomer District Hospital, Kilkenny on Saturday, October 4, 2025. Beloved wife of the late James and sister of the late Margaret and mother of Thomas and John. She will be sadly missed by daughters-in-law Annabel and Yuka, grandchildren Jago, Alice, Kento and Naoto and sister-in-law Jessica.

Funeral arriving to St. Peter’s Church, Ennisnag, Co. Kilkenny on Friday, October 10, for Funeral Service at 2pm. Burial will follow afterwards in the adjoining churchyard. Family Flowers only please, donations if desired to Castlecomer District Hospital. Thank You.

Walter (Wally) Elliott

The death has occurred of Walter (Wally) Elliott, Ranelagh, Dublin and formerly Kildare and Woodsgift, Kilkenny, October 4, 2025 (peacefully) at St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Elm Park, Dublin 4. Beloved husband of Mary. Predeceased by his brother Billy. Sadly missed by his family, his sisters May and Nora, brother David, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

Reposing at Fanagans Funeral Home, Aungier Street on Tuesday 7th October from 4pm. until 6pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, October 8, at 12 noon in St. Patrick’s Church, Graine, Urlingford Co. Kilkenny followed by burial at the adjoining cemetery.

 

Nora Hickey (née Mullhall)

The death has occurred of Nora Hickey (née Mullhall), Ballinvalley (formerly 3 Watergate Kilkenny), Borris, Carlow / Kilkenny / Tipperary, unexpectedly on October 5, at St Lukes Hospital Kilkenny. Predeceased by her parents Michael and Margaret (Mellison, Glengoole). Beloved wife of John and loving mother to Joe, Michael, Brid, Patrick, Eoin, and Margaret, beloved sister of John and Mary (Ryan). Nora will be sadly missed by John, her children, grandchildren Johanna-Leni, Sadhbh, and Shay, daughters in law Lisa and Marleigh, brothers in law Michael and Seamus, sisters in law Margaret, Siobhan, and Mary, nephews, nieces, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing at Joyce's Funeral Home Borris from 1.30pm on Wednesday with funeral prayers at 6pm. Funeral to arrive at the Sacred Heart Church Borris for church prayers at 7pm. Requiem Mass at 11am on Thursday followed by burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery Borris.

Elizabeth Hogan (née Lonergan)

The death has occurred of Elizabeth Hogan, (née Lonergan), Cottrellstown, Kilmoganny, Co. Kilkenny and formerly of Loughtally, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary. Peacefully, at Waterford University Hospital, on Monday, October 6, 2025. Pre-deceased by her parents John and Peggy and her brother Pat. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her sorrowing family, her heartbroken husband Eddie, her sons Edmond, John and Pat, granddaughters Amy and Kayleigh, Edmond’s partner Anita, niece Niamh, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Molloy’s Funeral Home, Callan (Eircode R95 Y443) on Wednesday, 8th October 8, 2025 from 5pm concluding with Rosary and Vigil Prayers at 7pm. Funeral arriving to St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny for Requiem Mass on Thursday,  October 9, at 11am. Burial will follow afterwards in Kilmoganny Cemetery. House private please at all times.

Richard (Dick) Morrissey

The death has occurred of Richard (Dick) Morrissey, Rathmeel, Fortland, Easkey, Co. Sligo, formerly of Friary Street, Kilkenny. Peacefully, at Sligo University Hospital, surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his parents, Martin and Ellen Morrissey, siblings, Josie, John, Paddy, Anna, Mary and Martin. Richard (Dick), beloved husband of Mary, and loving father of Michaela, Joanne, Mary Clare and Richard. Sadly missed by his loving wife and family, sister, Ellen, in-laws, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at his residence Eircode (F26KD45) on Tuesday from 1pm until 8pm. Funeral will arrive at St. James’ Church, Easkey, on Wednesday, October 8, for Requiem Mass at 11.30am, followed by cremation at McGowan’s Crematorium, Collooney arriving at 1.30 pm, approximately. Family flowers only please.
