The death has occurred of James Joseph (Seamus) Butler, "Butlers Pantry" 28 Bank Place, Tipperary Town and late of Kilmogar, Clara, Co. Killkenny, on January 19, 2026. James, Joseph (Seamus) passed away peacefully in University Hospital Limerick. Sadly missed by his daughter Ciara, sons Daniel and Jamie, their mother Anne Connaire, his brothers Martin and Mikey, his sister Bridget and extended family.
Funeral mass will take place in St. Colman's Church, Clara, Co. Kilkenny at 11am on Thursday, January 22, 2026 followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. No flowers please. Donations to a charity of your choice.
The death has occurred of Paddy Sweeney, Spa Hill, Gathabawn, Co. Kilkenny January 17, 2026, unexpectedly in the arms of his wife Margaret. Predeceased by his parents John and Bridget. Sadly missed and remembered with love by his heartbroken wife Margaret, adored children Paul, Amy, Linda and Kevin, Paul's partner Tríona, Amy's husband Kevin, Linda's husband Liam, Kevin's partner Saoirse, much cherished grandchildren Éanna, Róise, Ríadh and Páidí, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, his cousin and best friend Jim, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.
Reposing at his residence on Wednesday and Thursday, January 21 and 22 from 4pm until 7.30pm. Removal on Friday morning to St. Fiacre's Church, Clontubrid arriving for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
House private on Friday morning please. Traffic management will be in place on Wednesday and Thursday. Parking will be at Gathabawn village and also at Jim and Paddy's yard (Eircode E41 RP40). Transport will be provided at both these locations to and from Paddy's residence. Your co-operation is greatly appreciated.
The death has occurred of Margaret (Peggy) Gorman (née Kavanagh), Southampton, England, and late of Buncrussia Street, Freshford, Kilkenny. Peggy died in Southampton in her 91st year. Pre-deceased by her husband Richard, parents Margaret and Bill, sisters Noreen, Bridie and Theresa, brothers Danny and Willie, and nephews John (Ringo) and Patrick. Sadly missed by her beloved sons Joseph, John and Richard, granddaughter Rose, daughter-in-law and partner Mary and Treacy, sisters Mary and Chrissie, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends and neighbours.
Peggy's funeral will take place in St. Edmond's Church, Southampton, on February 6, at 11am.
The death has occurred of Jim (James) Morrissey, late of Eaton Terrace, Tramore, Co. Waterford and formerly, The Rower, Co. Kilkenny. Jim passed unexpectedly, at home, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, January 17, 2026. Jim will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his heartbroken wife Mary, his loving and much loved children, Linda, Claire, Clive and Colm and his step children; his daughter in law Katrina; his sons in law Mike and Stephen; his adoring grandchildren Alex, Robbie, Ryan, Tessa, Nathan, Ava, Hugo and Lailah. Jim will be fondly remembered by his brothers and sisters, all his nieces and nephews; his in-laws; his extended family, relatives, wonderful neighbours, and many many friends. The Morrissey family would like to thank with great appreciation all the emergency services for their great efforts when they attended to Jim.
Jim’s Requiem Mass will take place on Wednesday, January 21, at 10am in The Church of the Holy Cross, Tramore. Immediately afterwards, Jim will be laid to rest in St. Declan's Cemetery, Tramore. The death has occurred of Ray McEntee, Newtown, Thomastown, Kilkenny. Ray died peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Archersrath Nursing Home, Kilkenny. He is deeply regretted and will be sadly missed by his family - his wife Mary (née O'Reilly) and children: Mary, Margaret, Patrick, Henry and Louise; in-laws, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister May, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives and friends.
Requiem Mass at 11am on Wednesday, January 21, in the Church of the Assumption followed by interment in St Mary's New Cemetery, Thomastown, Co Kilkenny.
