Kilkenny artist passionate about sustainability exhibits at MacDonagh Junction

Christina Drennan - This Is What I Do is running at MacDonagh Junction until August 20

Visual Textiles Weaving Solo Exhibition, Christina Drennan from Irish Hand Made is running an exhibition until Sunday at Mac Donagh Shopping Centre.

A native of Kilkenny, Christina explains the background to this exhibition and a little about herself.

“I am very passionate about sustainability, using up whatever materials I have, preventing materials from going to landfill, using (where possible) eco, organic, refashioned, upcycled and recycled materials. I enjoy working with conservation in mind, with refashioned fabrics and ethically sourced materials where possible to eliminate surplus and reduce waste. One of my favourite fabrics to work with is wool, and I love to work with local sheep farmers and our local woollen mill every chance I get.”

Showcasing a wide variety of mediums through her love for textiles, designing and creating beautifully hand woven pieces from scarfs to wall hangings to her embroidered pieces, she expresses sensory experience with lots of colourful energy through these mediums.

Come down to see her amazing hand woven decorative pieces which range in size from 5ft to 5cm.

As part of the two weeks exhibition, Christina will also be running her very popular ancient peg loom weaving workshops, so if you are looking for something a little different, call into Unit 28, MacDonagh Junction Shopping Centre, Kilkenny, or call her on 085 2382706 for more information.
