RTE to screen behind-the-scenes look at a Kilkenny man's unusual wedding!

A new RTE series that looks at couples from two different cultures / backgrounds in the lead-up to their wedding day is set to feature a Kilkenny man and his wedding to.. a Carlow lady!
A Ring and a Prayer returns for a second season next Friday, November 6. The series will look at couples from two different cultures / backgrounds in the lead-up to their wedding day and how they merge their particular faith / culture's weddings.
One in four weddings that take place in Ireland today involve someone at least one Irish non-national.
The programme looks at Kilkenny man Ciaran as he marries a woman from Carlow, Yinka, who has Nigerian background. The show documents their relationship and how they blend both of their cultures and marriage traditions - they end up having a traditional Yoruba wedding.
The six-part lifestyle and documentary series returns to RTÉ ONE and RTÉ Player to offer viewers a deeply intimate, joyful, and authentic look into the evolving landscape of contemporary multicultural Ireland and how people are celebrating their weddings.
Across six episodes, the series follow 12 couples representing nine different nationalities as they navigate the intricate and sometimes stressful preparations leading up to their wedding day.
Whether the couples are devoutly religious, culturally lapsed, or entirely non-theistic, each ceremony acts as a beautiful, living symbol of mutual respect and synchronicity.
Official census data reveals that 23.3% of the Irish population was born outside of Ireland, and today, one in four marriages across the country involves at least one non-Irish national.
The series delves into what happens when two people from completely different cultures, ethnicities, or faith traditions fall in love, decide to tie the knot, and attempt to blend their distinct values into a single, cohesive wedding ceremony.
Viewers will be treated to a spectacular and colourful tapestry of global traditions. This season features an incredible array of diverse ceremonies, including rich Ukrainian cultural traditions, a vibrant Yoruba Traditional wedding, sacred Hindu and Muslim rituals, moving Pentecostal Christian and Roman Catholic nuptials, and a ceremony blending Jewish heritage.
Many couples have even chosen to design completely custom ceremonies from scratch, beautifully weaving together elements of their mixed roots to create something entirely unique.
