An information session on the new forestry programme is to take place, next week.
The event is organised by the Irish Wood Producers in cooperation with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and Teagasc Forestry.
It will be held in the Rhu Glenn, Slieverue, Co. Kilkenny, next Wednesday, January 24, from 10am to 12noon. Registration starts at 9:30am.
Presentations from Robert Windle, Forestry Inspector and Frances McHugh, Teagasc Forestry Advisor will be followed by refreshments and an opportunity to ask one to one questions about planting / management / thinning / certification at information stands.
Irish Wood Producers is a not for profit forestry producer group covering the South East and based in New Ross. They deliver events and training, and manage all forestry operations for members.
Those interested in the upcoming Forestry Knowledge Transfer Groups (two hours every week for seven weeks) will also be able to sign up on the day.
The new forestry programme provides more opportunities for diverse silvicultural practices with better grant supports for many aspects of forestry, which many forest owners are not aware of. There has also been great interest in the newly launched native Tree Area Scheme. All are welcome.
