Kilkenny got their 2025 inter-county season off to a winning start with a narrow victory over a very experimental Waterford team on Saturday.

A 1-3 tally from Mossy Keoghan including a vital second half goal proved the catalyst to help Derek Lyng's men claim a come from behind success on a scoreline of 1-19 to 1-17. - FULL MATCH REPORT HERE

The fixture, played at the Piltown GAA grounds, brought back many cherished memories for supporters on the day. 

The picture below is of the Kilkenny team that played The Deise at the same venue on the occasion of the official opening of the newly refurbed pitch and new dressing rooms in 1965.

The great Ned Power of Breanor (second from the right in back row) featured on the day and is regarded as Piltown’s finest ever hurler. 

Since then, the Cats have only played one match at the venue, facing Clare at the South Kilkenny grounds in 1973.
