Kilkenny SHL: Big news announced as Henry Shefflin makes surprising decision

Ten-time All-Ireland winner with Kilkenny, Henry Shefflin

Former Kilkenny forward Henry Shefflin is understood to have enlisted the services of former team-mate David Herity in a move many local hurling supporters see as a surprising but positive development.

The Irish Independent are reporting that the 10-time All-Ireland winner has brought in the ex inter-county goalkeeper into the fold in a coaching position.

Shefflin guided the Shamrocks to All-Ireland victories in 2019 and '20 and returned for a second stint with the South Kilkenny club earlier this year.

So far in the St Canice's Credit Union Senior Hurling League the Shamrocks have a win and a defeat to their name, losing to Glenmore by a single point in a thrilling contest on Sunday afternoon.

Since retiring, Herity has managed the Kildare senior hurlers and is believed to have played a critical role in the Tipperary backroom team that went all the way to All-Ireland glory.

Do you think it's a good move for the Shamrocks man and how do you think the Dunnamaggin clubman will fair under Shefflin?
