Kilkenny woman is Cake Designer of the Year!

Congrats to Sarah McGree of The Wild Grazer

Unique, wedding cake masterpieces have won the coveted Cake Designer of the Year award for a Kilkenny woman.

Sarah McGree, founder and owner of The Wild Grazer, scooped the award for her speciality cheese wheel cakes, at the  weddingsonline awards 2023.

The Wild Grazer wedding cakes offer an alternative to the traditional wedding cake.  A growing trend, the wedding cheese cake is created by stacking wheels of at least four speciality cheeses. The Wild Grazer works exclusively with Irish suppliers including Gubbeen and Cooleeney  and has a range of over 20 cheeses for couples to choose from.

The wedding cheese cake was developed in response to Irish couples’ increasing appetite for bucking traditions in favour of newer alternatives for their big day.  The cheese cakes, which come peppered with seasonal produce like figs and passion fruit, provide an Instagramable centerpiece and savory snack that can fuel guest’s dancing into the night.

Sarah spent her twenties working in The US and Canada where she catered events for clients including Hilary Clinton and Warren Buffet, and held the position of Senior Wedding and Events Advisor at The Gladstone, one of Toronto’s most celebrated boutique hotels. Drawn back to Ireland during Covid, she coupled her international experience with best of local produce to start The Wild Grazer.

Sarah has recently invested in a bespoke catering kitchen to increase capacity and expand the cheese wheel wedding cake offering nationwide. For more information see www.thewildgrazer.ie
