A new date has been confirmed for the annual St Rioch's Graveyard Mass on Walkin Street, which was originally due to take place earlier in the month.

Many people were left disappointed when the Mass didn't go ahead as there was no celebrant to say it.

The mass will now take place at 7pm on Tuesday, August 28. Local councillor Patrick McKee says everyone is looking forward to it.

"It has been tradition now for the past 17 years or so, and I believe that it is hugely important we keep this tradition alive in memory of those who have been laid to rest in the graveyard," he said.

"Indeed, it is one of Kilkenny's oldest graveyards. I want to pay tribute to Tom Reade who for those 17 years has cared for, and maintained, St Rioch’s Graveyard so well. Tom is a true gentleman and I’m thankful to him for his ongoing commitment to the area."
