World Suicide Prevention Day conference on Friday at Butler house, Kilkenny

Peer support is an invaluable tool in recovery from mental ill-health

On Friday, Mental health expert, Dr Mike Watts,  will give a great insight into the need for peer support following a bout of mental ill-health

Lifelinkk, Kilkenny’s umbrella group for mental health, will host its 7th annual seminar for World Suicide Prevention Day on Friday.
‘What’s Happening? – around mental health in Kilkenny’, will take place in Butler House on Patrick Street from 8.45am to 1pm.
There will be talks about the new local structures which strive to take account of the lived experience of people with mental ill-health, their families and carers, as well as the importance of peer support in recovery.
During a break, delegates will have a chance to engage with the organisations who deliver mental health services in Kilkenny.
Fiona McKernan, Michael Norton and Mike Watts will speak about how peer support is an invaluable tool in recovery from mental ill-health.
The morning will finish with the launch of Kilkenny's week of events around positive mental health which this year will run from October 3 to 10 and is called 'Craic'd - Letting the Light In'.
