Forty four people were arrested yesterday (Wednesday) in Kilkenny City and county during Operation Storm.
The high profile garda operation was set up to disrupt criminal activity in the area and to raise awareness around crime prevention.
24 people were arrested on suspicion of a variety of offences including burglary, theft, assault and criminal damage and a further 20 people were arrested on warrants. 16 people were charged and are due to appear in court and files were sent to the DPP in relation to the other cases.
14 searches took place and a number of community engagements events were also held in locations across Kilkenny.
Over 100 gardaí including members of the Air Support Unit, the Dog Unit, the Mounted Unit and the Armed Response Unit were involved in the operation.
