Kilkenny City has been selected by Jysk as the latest location to host a new retail outlet.
The hugely-popular chain have applied for planning permission to conduct alterations at a retail unit in the Kilkenny Retail and Business Park, Springhill, Kilkenny City.
The Scandinavian furniture giant seeks to alter the existing retail unit to bring it up to suitable spec for a new store. This includes the construction of a new first floor mezzanine retail space.
Internal alterations, the provision of storage/stock room, internal lift, circulation & escape stairs are also planned.
The planning application from Jysk was submitted to Kilkenny County Council yesterday (November 16, 2022).
A final decision from the Council is expected by January 19, 2023.
Only after planning permission is granted can the alterations commence.
Jysk is the largest Danish retailer operating internationally with over 3,100 stores in 51 countries.
Nearby stores including those in Carlow, Tipperary, Laois and Waterford have all proven to be a hit with consumers.
