British trainer Christian Williams is set to saddle his first-ever runner at Gowran Park in Kilkenny today and he’s already settling into the spirit of the occasion, judging by his pre-race social post.

Sharing a tongue-in-cheek snap of his horse kitted out with snorkel and goggles, he joked about the weather and the journey over as the team prepared for their big day.

The visitor is Dixie Mafia, who lines up in the second race (13:10) alongside jockey John Shinnick.

For a period, it seemed like the fate of Goffs Thyestes Day was hanging in the balance, due to recent wet weather.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) then confirmed yesterday evening that following a course inspection, the green light has been given for today's Goffs Thyestes Day at Gowran Park in Kilkenny.
