Greensbridge boardwalk plans to go on public display in Kilkenny

Plans for the Greensbridge boardwalk which will provide a stunning artery into the city for pedestrians and cyclists will go on display this Friday (October 20).

A presentation on the River Nore boardwalk project from the Abbey Quarter to Bishops Meadows was made by senior engineer with Kilkenny County Council, Tony Lauhoff.

Mr Lauhoff outlined to members how the Riverside Garden Project was the first phase of the URDF and that the Greensbridge boardwalk is the second phase and consists of a proposed pedestrian and cycling path linking the Linear Park to the Riverside Park and onto the Nore Valley walk to Bennettsbridge.

The proposed width of the boardwalk is three metres and the finished surface will be from recycled plastic. The proposed route passes through an existing arch of Greens bridge.

Consultation in advance of the planning application has taken place with a number of agencises including the National Parks and Wildlife Service, the National Monuments Service, the Office of Publis Works and Inland Fisheries Ireland.

Details of the proposed developement will be on public display until December 1.
