Kilkenny gardaí ran a significant operation in the city on Monday morning focused on 'distracted driving'.
The aim was to covertly catch drivers texting and looking down at their phone while driving. Inspectors Alma Molloy and Paul Donohoe sought the assistance of four student gardai and two members of the Community Engagement Unit for the operation.

"The mission was a success. It is not impossible to drive without interacting with your phone but it is impossible to drive safely while doing so," the Kilkenny District of An Garda Síochana posted to social media.
"This message will not self destruct (health and safety!)."
