Green Party councillor for Kilkenny City, Maria Dollard has called for greater bus services at peak times to assist local school pupils and students get to school.
"I'm getting reports that even at the moment that children are being turned away from buses at Butt’s Green," Cllr Dollard claimed.

"They can’t get on the bus to get to school in the morning or evening times," she added, requesting Kilkenny County Council contact Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) to request the introduction of extra buses during school times.
"I can envisage a big problem happening. We're trying to get kids to walk and cycle, many of them will be able to but I'm sure there’s some coming from parts of the city where it’s just too far to walk and cycling may feel unsafe," she said.
In response, Senior Engineer, Stan Cullen told members a survey is being carried out on modes of transport by local students in the CBS (located near Butt’s Green) but the local authority will flag the need for additional transport with the TII.
