Cllr Sean Ó hArgain has welcomed the addition of updated signage in the city, admitting mistakes were made in past decisions.
Updated wayfinding signage has been installed across Kilkenny City according to Senior Engineer, Stan Cullen.
The new signage, painted in black and consisting of white text replaces what was deemed 'weathered' signage, with the majority of signs in the city centre upgraded at this point.
Unlike road signs, this type of signage is particularly helpful to tourists as it signposts local visitor attractions and amenities.

Reacting to the update at June’s sitting of the Kilkenny City Municipal District, Cllr Ó hArgain said the improvement in the signage was 'great to see', adding, "sometimes I think when you go wrong when you’re involved in decisions in the city, we should admit we went wrong and one of those decisions, in which I was on the selection committee for was the old street signage where we were told we were erecting cast iron signage which would last forever and unfortunately it lasted anything but forever, and to see them being replaced with a more suitable alternative is really welcome," he continued.
Cllr David FitzGerald welcomed the facelift to the but suggested further signage should be considered to inform people of the many craft workshops on offer in the city.
