Route confirmed for Kilkenny Pride Parade - 'We'd love the whole city to join in'

Following the parade, attendees will be welcomed at a free family fun day in association with Butler Gallery, Ossory Youth, and Kilkenny County Council, sponsored by State Street, taking place at the Butler Gallery

The parade route sets off from Kilkenny Castle before concluding at the Butler Gallery

Kilkenny is set to make history this summer as it hosts its first Pride Parade, taking place on Saturday, 26 July 2025, from 1pm.

The parade route sets off from Kilkenny Castle, proceeding from Parade Plaza towards High Street and the Market Yard, before concluding at the Butler Gallery at Evan's Home on John's Quay.

An Garda Síochána will accompany the procession, and short, temporary delays to traffic are expected along the route. Gardaí will be on hand throughout the event to manage traffic and ensure minimal traffic disruption.

Participants are invited to gather at the castle gates on Parade Plaza from 1pm, with the parade officially beginning at 1.30pm.

Speaking ahead of the event, Co-chair of Kilkenny Pride, Alan Slattery said, "Our hope is that this festival and parade will grow into an annual celebration, one that belongs to the whole community, where everyone has the opportunity to get involved and feel part of it.

"We're looking forward to celebrating a lively, positive event in the city, and we hope to see people lining the streets, whether they're walking in the parade, cheering from the sidelines, or simply enjoying the atmosphere throughout the weekend. Pride is for everyone, and we'd love the whole city to join in."

Following the parade, attendees will be welcomed at a free family fun day in association with Butler Gallery, Ossory Youth, and Kilkenny County Council, sponsored by State Street, taking place at the Butler Gallery.

The event will feature a programme of live music, entertainment and family-friendly activities.

The parade will serve as the centrepiece of the inaugural Kilkenny Pride Festival, which runs from Thursday, July 24 to Sunday, July 27.

Le Chéile for Kilkenny

Kilkenny Pride Festival, under the theme Le Chéile (together), will feature a varied programme of events throughout the four-day celebration, including workshops, panel discussions, live music, comedy nights and activities for all ages.
