Kilkenny driver makes life saving decision to report serious crime to gardaí

A local driver who made the brave and perhaps life saving decision to report a fellow motorist who was watching a video while driving in Kilkenny last week has received plaudits from gardaí.

The offender was observed through his back window.

"When he drew alongside the car at lights, the driver was still watching and this was captured by a pillar camera on the car," a garda spokesperson said.

"We called the suspect who made full admissions after viewing the evidence. He was issued a fixed charge notice with fine and Penalty Points for a breach of Section 51a Road Traffic Act.

"Distracted driving Kills," they continued.

"The driver who contacted us with this evidence could have saved a life. Today this distracted driver got points, another day he might kill someone."
