'An inspiration' - Huge praise for Kilkenny man on The Great House Revival on RTÉ

Over the weekend, a Kilkenny man with immense ambition was thrust under the spotlight on national television as his home renovation project featured on RTÉ's Great House Revival.

Seán Hickey, a local teacher and landscaper, caught the imagination of the general public with his positive attitude, honesty of effort and the remarkable job he did on his John Street mid-terrace property on a relatively small budget.

His passion for all things Kilkenny shone throughout the episode, including the city's history, heritage and legacy of craft, which was reflected in his home.

"Just finished watching The Great House Revival on catch up," one viewer posted on social media.

"What an amazing job this man done in the beautiful city of Kilkenny and all it cost was eighty grand of his own money keeping all the old features including old style windows that suits the house. Immaculate job."

Another posted: "Watched last night and that young man is an inspiration. He put his back into it and has such amazing loyal friends.

Another viewer also heaped praise on Sean's attitude: "That fella wasn’t afraid of work! I’ve started checking out places to stay in Kilkenny. It looks fab. Hope Discover Ireland are paying him!"
