Two more candidates have been elected - Michael Doyle (FG) and Deirdre Cullen (FF)
Two more candidates have been elected in the Callan-Thomastown Electoral Area, meaning there is just one more seat up for grabs in the six-seater LEA. And - what's more - there is just 14 votes between the two most likely contenders for that final seat.
Fine Gael's Michael Doyle and Fianna Fail's Deirdre Cullen have both just been elected on the third count, which entailed the distribution of a surplus of 442 votes from Joe Sheridan (FF). Cllr Doyle took 39 of these, getting him over the line. As expected, Cllr Cullen also got a healthy share, making her the first female councillor elected to this new council.
The battle to be the next woman elected will be a nail-biter, as there are now just 14 votes between the two most likely prospects. Stephanie Doyle of Sinn Fein won a first preference vote of 862, and has added 44 more in this count (a total of 935 votes). The final seat in the LEA is between her and Orla Kelly (FG), who got 61 votes this count, taking her current total to 921 votes.
The fourth count in Callan Thomastown now gets underway - the distribution of Deirdre Cullen's surplus of 153.
Earlier, three other candidates got over the line.
