Prohibition of bathing lifted at two locations in Kilkenny, but remains in one!

Bathing prohibition lifted at The Weir Pool in Thomastown (pictured) and Bishop Meadows in Kilkenny City

Water quality sample results have been returned for swimming areas in Kilkenny that are currently subject to swimming prohibition notices.

The level of e-coli recorded at Thomastown Weir Pool and Bishop Meadows in Kilkenny City have returned to acceptable levels, allowing the lifting of both prohibition notices at these areas. 

The swimming area at the Weir on the Bleach Road is still showing elevated e-coli levels, therefore the HSE is recommending that the prohibition on bathing at this swimming area remains in place.
